International Year of Planet Earth (IYPE) is a 3-year event, starting from 2007-2009. United Nations General Assembly declared that the year 2008 is the official IYPE - officially launched at UNESCO headquarters in Paris on 12th and 13th February 2008.

The International Year of Planet Earth 2007-2009 (January 2007-December 2009). 2008 will end soon - but some preparations for 2009's event are already under ways to be organized by different countries, which the public can get involved.

Who is the world leader for Earth Sciences? It is none other than the land of maple tree and Celine Dion (of no relation to Earth Science) called Canada. The nation is one of the major participants in IYPE.

The WHERE challenge is one of the events held in Canada between September 2008 and March 2009. WHERE is the abbreviation Water, Hazards, Energy, Resources and Environment.

Geo-Song - Mother Earth is the song that was performed in official launched of IYPE on 12 and 13 February 2008.







Celebrities of the music industry have not forgotten about their social duties for planet Earth. Thus, it is heart-warming to know efforts are also being taken by industries, such as the music scene, which is not directly linked to green issues.
